DVPRO
Has Released a Bilingual Safety DVD For a Local Contractor
Camano Island, Washington, May 3, 2007
- The president of Bob’s Heating,
Vern Olson, is featured in the introduction
of the new Bob’s Safety DVD and
was surprised when he heard his voice
lip synced in another language. The
production was released in two languages
to accommodate the new employees who
are not yet fluent in English.
Bob’s Heating is the largest new
construction heating and air conditioning
contractor in the state of Washington.
The video contains all the things a
new employee needs to know to return
home safely every night. In an
entertaining and dynamic way, Bob’s
new employees will learn how to safely
operate various power tools, what rules
they need to follow while operating a
Bob’s vehicle, how to work safely
in the warehouse, how to handle hazardous
materials and other safety procedures. Each
section is followed by a series of bilingual
test questions the employee must complete
before moving on to the next section. The
DVD will ensure that every Bob’s
employee knows the safety rules and what
is expected of them while working at
Bob’s. It will also assure
consistency in safety education and will
significantly reduce new employee training
costs.
An online interactive version will be
available to Bobs employees soon.
The video was shot at Bob’s warehouse
in Kirkland, Washington, and at various
new home locations in the Western Washington
area.
The DVD will make home builders more
comfortable knowing that employees of
their contractors have been trained in
the proper safety procedures.
This is a first for the heating contractor
industry and should reduce injuries and
accidents with a corresponding reduction
in insurance claims and rates.
